Suzanne was a dear friend and Kappa Delta sister during our days together at Coe. The last time I saw her was at the sorority reunion during Coe Homecoming for the class of 1960. Suzanne was gracious in inviting us to Brucemore Estate where she personally escorted us throughout the home. Stefanie and Stacey, I had the privilege of knowing both of your mothers, Nancy and Suzanne. Nancy and I were best friends in high school and college and she was very dear to me. How wonderful for you to have moved into Suzanne's life along with your dad, Carol, for so many years. My husband, Bob Kerns, and I now live in Tampa, Florida, after leaving Cedar Rapids 65 years ago following our marriage there. Your lives have been blessed by having such wonderful parents and brother and sister. You all have a storehouse full of rich memories to support you in the hard days ahead.

I remember your mother very fondly after spending so much time at your Upland Drive home. She was always a kind and gracious lady. It seems not too long ago that I saw her act in a Theatre Cedar Rapids production. She was wonderful! It was such a pleasure to get a chance to talk to her briefly. May your memories of her help you during the very difficult time.

Suzanne was my second grade teacher and taught next door to my mom, Marion Hazelton, also a second grade teacher at Wright School. When Robin was born, our family gifted her one of the three little wooden rockers enjoyed by the three Hazelton children. Suzanne remarried the year I had her for my second grade teacher and I clearly recall going shopping for the class gift at Younkers. My mom cherished her friendship with Suzanne (Mom passed in 2021). I crossed paths with Suzanne over my adult years and will always remember her grace, that smile and the sense of being welcomed warmly. Celebrating your mother.
