Evelyn graduated from Nichols High School in 1946 where she played on the women's basketball team. She was an avid follower of Iowa women's basketball for many years, often attending home games. Evelyn was a selfless person who spent many hours over 21 years knitting caps and booties for newborn babies, donating over 1,800 sets to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She loved to bake and enjoyed sharing her homemade desserts with family and friends. Evelyn had a mild spirit and was soft-spoken, always making sure everyone else was taken care of before she would relax herself. She deeply loved her family, and her soft voice and words of wisdom will be missed.
