Geraldine “Gerri” Fenton, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully of natural causes with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, October 8, 2025

Born on January 6, 1939, near Strawberry Point, Gerri was the daughter of Gerald and Majorie Vanter.

Gerri graduated from Strawberry Berry Point High school in 1956.  After graduation, she worked at small restaurant in Strawberry Point and the Delaware County Hospital in Manchester, IA.

Gerri married the love of her life, Marcene Fenton, on February 16,1958 with whom she shared 48 wonderful years, until his passing in October 2006. 

Gerri and Marcene farmed until 1966, then they moved To Cedar Rapids.  In April of 1966, Gerri started her career at Collins Radio where she worked until her retirement as a Quality engineer in 1996.

After retirement, Gerri worked part-time at Flowerama, volunteering, gardening, and spending time with the Silver Sneakers crew at the Rockwell Rec Center.  But Gerri’s favorite thing to do was spending time with friends and family along the Mississippi River, where her love for gathering and laughter always shined on the docks or on the way water. She was happiest in the company of others, whether sharing stories, a good laugh, or a glass of Chardonnay.

She is survived by those that she is closest to : her daughter Annette and son-in-law Chris Petersen; her grandchildren Christopher Lindo (Courtney) and Stephanie Stokes (Nick); her sister Karen Kuehl (Neal)and family and her brother-in-law Eldon Fenton (Sue) and family. 

She will be remembered for her wit, warmth, and the way she brought people together with her humor and kindness.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025,  at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation is at 2:00 PM.  Funeral Service at 3:00 PM.  Luncheon will follow at the Family Center.  Private family burial will be Wednesday, October 15, 2025.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St Croix Hospice.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that her laughter, love, and lighthearted spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
