Memorial
Diane A. Eimen, 85, of Marion died peacefully at her home on May 31, 2025, with both of her children by her side. Service will take place at 1 PM on Friday in the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Father Neil Manternach of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the chapel at 1 PM on Friday.

Survivors include daughter Cindy Bys and husband Franklin of North Liberty, IA, son Jerry Eimen and wife Tami of Simpsonville, SC, brother Dennis Abel of Cedar Rapids, IA, sister Debra Booth of Casa Grande, AZ, and five grandchildren, Rachel and Cody Eimen, and Allison, Ashley, and Ryan Bys. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sisters Beverly and Barbara Abel.
Diane was born February 24, 1940, in Mason City, IA, to Orville and Hildred Abel. She was married to Orlo Eimen on November 7, 1965. She was a graduate of the Nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Diane was an Operating Room Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for 30 years and at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for several years after that. She was an active member of the East Iowa Heirloom Quilters Guild for over 25 years, where she helped create and distribute thousands of quilts through charitable organizations like Share Our Skills (SOS) and Project Linus. She thoroughly enjoyed time with her family, and frequently expressed her pride in her grandchildren and spoke of the joy that they brought her.
