Memorial
Kenneth Wilkins, 84, of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Monday, January 29, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Monday, February 5th at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom, Cedar Rapids.
Kenny was a loving husband and proud father. He enjoyed teasing and spoiling his four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Any time Kenny’s great-grandchildren visited they would rush to him, always eager to see what kind of candy Grandpa was dishing out.
Kenny was smart, hardworking, and kind-hearted. He loved a good piece of chocolate pie, a cold Mountain Dew, hunting with the boys, and an occasional trip to the casino with Sharon. He deserved to relax in retirement after farming in Keokuk County and working full-time for Kinze for several decades. Kenny loved sports. He attended many baseball games, was a devout Cubs fan, and a stud basketball player. He proudly served in the US Army where he was stationed in Fort Collins, Colorado, and Germany.
We are comforted knowing Kenny’s best qualities will live on through our family. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wilkins; son, Mike (Reta) Wilkins; daughter, Kristine Rongey; grandchildren, Cody (Andrea) Wilkins, Casey (Vanessa) Kloosterman, Katie (Jacob) Curtis, and Cole (Liz) Wilkins; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Emilia, Calvin, Hailey, Joleigh, Jason, Owen, Harper, a great-granddaughter expected in May; and sisters, Shirley, Sharon, and Connie.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Lucille Wilkins.
