Ruth Ann Sedrel, 86, of Marion passed away September 17, 2026, at Thomas Grove Assisted Living and Memory Care in Marion. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Ruth Ann was born on April 11, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Buck) Petersen. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School. Ruth Ann was united in Marriage to Donald Dean Sedrel on April 24, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She retired from Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids. Ruth Ann and Don shared a love of horseback riding. She was also an amazing artist. Ruth Ann lived her life trusting God and devoted her life caring for others and the animals she loved.
Survivors include her children Tracy Sedrel of Oelwein and Kelly Sedrel of Marion; grandson, Zach Sedrel; great granddaughter, Emmy Sedrel; and brother, Fred “Sonny” (Kathy) Petersen.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ruth and Fred Petersen; husband, Donald in 2015; and sister, Carolyn Koopman.
