Dennis R. Possehl, 86, passed away on October 16, 2026, from Parkinson’s disease at Meth-Wick Woodlands. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 3500 29th Avenue, Marion, Iowa.  Feel free to wear your Hawkeye gear to celebrate Dennis’s love for the Iowa Hawkeyes!

Dennis was born on September 25, 1940, to Ralph and Lenora Possehl in Elkader, Iowa. He married Mary Kill on October 21, 1961, in Littleport, Iowa. Together, they shared nearly 65 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, friends, and treasured memories. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 45 years and was a proud and loving father and grandfather.

Dennis enjoyed cheering on the Hawkeyes with Gen and Lee and spending time with family and friends at the trailer at Frenchman’s Landing. Some of his favorite memories were made boating, tubing, skiing, and fishing with his grandchildren and friends of the family. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Mary, making many friends along the way. Above all, Dennis treasured time spent with his family, including his beloved grand dogs, Addi Jane and Willow Mae. He was a long-standing member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, DeAnn, of Racine; his daughter, Denise (Dennis) Grove, of Marion; his grandchildren, Nolan Grove, Ella Grove, Brady Grove, and Gracie Possehl; and his brother, Carl (Andrea) Possehl. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

The family extends a special thank-you to the staff at Meth-Wick Woodlands and Suncrest Hospice for their care and support of Dennis during his final journey with Parkinson’s disease.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Camp Courageous, or Suncrest Hospice in Dennis’s memory.
