After joining Cedar Rhapsody Chorus in 1979, I roomed with Shirley during my first International competition in St. Louis. I have bedtime pictures of her with her perfectly styled & sprayed hairdo, carefully wrapped with toilet paper going around & around & around her head, to save her “do” for comp the next day!. We laughed & giggled so much! What a sense of humor, always upbeat & optimistic, (silly), but also an incredible tenor, & an inspiration to the rest of us. I so wish I could have attended her visitation today, but I have a job working with a needy family right at this time. But I want you to know how much I thought of her, loved her, and feel so fortunate that she was in my life. I will miss her, and my prayers and loving condolences go out to all of you in her dear family.

My sincerest condolences to Shirley‘s family and close friends. I was in Sweet Adaline‘s with her and so enjoyed her friendship, her smile and 10YKT her laughter. She was a sweet lady.

My prayers and sympathy to Shirley's family. She was "one of a kind". Always a smile on her face ! We were in Cedar Rhapsody and Metro Mix choruses together for many yeats. I was her tenor section leader for many; years. she was always prepared with her music. SHe worked ber;y hard on the notes and words. SHe was such a joyful person and fun to be around . She will be missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to be her friend

My prayers and sympathy to Shirley's family. I enjoyed Shirley so much! We were in Sweet Adelines together for many years, both in Cedar Rhapsody and Metro Mix and took many competition trips together. She was always smiling and so funny! We carpooled to Iowa City together, and when she drove, we were a little scared! The faster she talked the faster she drove lol! We finally told her she didn't have to drive anymore and I picked her up and drove us to the carpool. I enjoyed her so much and she will be so missed. She was a classic and I loved her. My condolences to you.
