After graduating from high school, she pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school at Capri College. She worked in the cosmetology field for many years, sharing her skill and creativity with those in her community. In addition, she spent many years working for Miller Beauty Supply, which was later acquired by Peels Beauty Supply, where she was consistently recognized as a top-selling sales representative. Later, she transitioned into real estate and spent more than 15 years with Skogman Realty, where she helped countless families in the Cedar Rapids area find homes and navigate the housing market with care and professionalism.

Marlyne was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and carried her faith with her throughout her life. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and her closest friends. Marlyne enjoyed singing, playing cards, going on cruises, traveling, crafting, and taking walks with her dogs. She also had a deep love for animals and found great joy in feeding wildlife. Throughout her life, she generously supported many charitable organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project, the Humane Society of the United States, the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, Special Olympics, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, among others.

Marlyne is survived by her sister, Mauryne Simoens; her children, Stephanie Miller and Matthew (Denise) Miller; her grandchildren, Cameron Mendoza, Lauren (Timothy) Chavez, and Cyrus Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Maddox, McCartney, and Kinnick.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to her closest friends for the love and support they showed Marlyne, bringing her comfort and joy during some of her most difficult years.
