Connie J. Gentry, 69, of Robins, passed away on Tuesday June 16, 2026, at The Gardens in Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 23, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held on Monday June 22, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m.  Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Laura (Josh) Umstead of Ely, Mark Davis (Lisa) of Walford, Iowa, Lynne Vorwald (Ken) and family, her step children, Ann Neuman (Cory) and family, Jon Gentry (Coutney) and family of Geneseo, Illinois, her grandchildren, Cael Deflieger, Ely, Iowa, Brynlee Deflieger of Ely, Iowa, Jake Umstead (Lilian Jones) of Walford, Iowa, Jayden Umstead of Ely, Iowa, Taylor Davis of Walford, Iowa and Colt Davis of Walford, Iowa.  She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Virgene Bockenstedt, her husband, Jon Gentry, and her brother, Larry Bockenstedt.

Connie was born August 19, 1956, in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Virgene (Vaske) Bockenstedt. She married Jon Gentry on October 12, 2013, in Solon, Iowa. Connie was a Registered Nurse for over 42 years, working at Mercy in Dubuque and Dyersville, Medical Associates of Dubuque, St. Luke’s Hospital, Mercy Medical Center and Mercy Interventional Pain Clinic, where she retired from.  Connie enjoyed bowling, cross-stitching, reading, cheering at her grandchildren’s events and vacations with Jon, her family and friends.  She loved cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Connie attended Northeast Iowa Community College for nursing and wrote a perfect paper state board examination receiving many awards and recognitions.  

The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Gardens of Cedar Rapids and Erin Balk  ARNP, Unity Point Hospice  and Dr. Younger and Rehabilitation Center, and the University of Iowa Neurology and Neurosurgery departments.  
Family will greet friends after 2pm at Shuey’s, 1158 Club Rd NE, Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026
