Rebecca, “Becki,” Daly passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 26, 2026. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, followed by a funeral service beginning at 5:00 PM.
Becki was born on April 24, 1948, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Russell and Daleth (Bode) Burkhart. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in education and later earned a master's degree in Home Economics from the University of Iowa. Becki dedicated 34 years to teaching Family and Consumer Sciences in the Cedar Rapids Community School District, inspiring generations of students at Washington High School, Franklin Middle School, and Harding Middle School.
On August 5, 1967, Becki married Ronald Daly, a partnership that would span six decades. Together they raised two children, Rachel and Ryan, and built a life centered on family, love, and adventure. Family was always Becki's greatest joy, and she treasured the many vacations they took together across the United States and beyond. One memorable summer, they even drove all the way to Alaska.
Becki was her children's and grandchildren's biggest supporter, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on in their activities and accomplishments. A talented seamstress, she lovingly created clothing, costumes, dresses, pajamas, and countless other handmade treasures for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, playing cards (especially poker), and fishing. Becki and Ron shared a love of the outdoors and frequently traveled to Minnesota for fishing trips or spent time fishing for trout at their cabin in Dorchester, Iowa.
Becki embraced an active and adventurous life. She was often found riding her bicycle and preparing for RAGBRAI, an event she participated in multiple times over the years. She and Ron shared a passion for travel, exploring the world together through cruises and overseas adventures that created lasting memories. They were also devoted Hawkeye fans and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on Iowa football, traveling to many away games and bowl games over the years.
In more recent years, she and Ron spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they found a vibrant community of friends who became a second family to her. Together, they started the "Tour de Hood," a Saturday morning bike ride that began at their home and wound through the park. She embraced all that Yuma had to offer, participating in water aerobics, hiking, book club, and outings to the movies, casino, and even day trips to Mexico. Each evening, neighbors and friends gathered along their block for happy hour, sharing laughter, stories, and the camaraderie she treasured so much.
Becki is left to be remembered by her loving family; her husband Ron Daly; her children, Rachel (Nick Jett) Daly and Ryan (Beth) Daly; her grandchildren McKenize, Addalie, Nolan and Eli and by her sister Elaine (Dan) Dubray.
She is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Daleth (Bode) Burkhart.
