Raymond Neal Denny, affectionately known as Neal, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was born on September 15, 1949, in Cedar Rapids to Carl and Harriett Jayne (Copp) Denny. Neal lived a life full of love, joy, and generosity, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Neal was united in love to Laura Mae Dudek for 30 wonderful years. Their bond was a testament to true companionship, marked by unconditional support and shared devotion. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and affection, surrounded by family and friends who cherished their time together.
Neal was a 1967 graduate of Springville High School, Neal went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR), demonstrating his dedication to his country. He forged a career through various roles at Johnson Gas Appliance Co, Hawkeye Rubber Mfg Co, and Whirlpool Mfg Co. His commitment to hard work and integrity was one of his many qualities.
Neal displayed his love for sports, particularly golf and football. Neal was a member of the Meadowview Golf & Country Club for 40 years and loved The Green Bay Packers. His passion for old classic cars was well known by his loved ones. Those enthusiasms were matched only by his passion for cooking, especially his famous macaroni and cheese, pies, and cookies. He also had a fondness for lottery tickets and all kinds of music. Neal enjoyed caring for his beloved kitty cats. A generous man at heart, Neal believed in the importance of giving back. In a final act of kindness, he made organ donations to those in need, ensuring that his legacy of compassion would continue beyond his lifetime. His caring nature left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and he was surrounded by a network of loving family, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia “Pat” Reid, brother-in-law George L. Reid, and niece Caryol Reid.
He is survived by his loving devoted Laura, Son Zac Denny, Brother Dennis Denny, Sister Rae (Peter) Jacobs and Granddaughter Meah Denny and many loving family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
A celebration of Neal's life will be held on February 6, 2026, at 3:00 -7:00 PM at the Red Cedar Lodge located at 1700 Big Bluestem Dr., Marion, IA, 52302. All who knew him are invited to join in honoring the life of a remarkable man who brought joy, laughter, and love to those around him.
As we remember Neal, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity, keeping his spirit alive in our hearts and actions. Rest in peace, dear Neal; your love will forever guide us.
