Memorial
Kenneth Berzinski, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully on Monday, January 27th, at home surrounded by his family. A private memorial will be held followed by entombment where Ken and Barbie will spend eternity together: Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Steve) Ruefer of Iowa City; son, Ken Berzinski II (Patty) of Lake Ozark, Mo; and grandchildren, Brian, Amy and Brittany; along with three great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barb, his parents, Emil and Augusta Berzinski, brother and sister-in-law Dick (Barb) Berzinski, sister and brother-in-law Ruth (Dick) Raymond, and brother and sister-in-law Bud (Beverly) Berzinski.
Kenneth J. Berzinski was born on August 20, 1930, in Winona, MN, the beloved son of Emil and Augusta (Tadewald) Berzinski. He married Barbara L. Hasbrouck on June 4, 1951, in Cedar Rapids at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 735. He and Barb were active in Square and round dancing. He was involved in the family’s restaurant businesses and manager of the Hy-Vee Deli on Johnson Avenue before he retired. He enjoyed spending summers in northern Minnesota, fishing, and was active in Gunflint Trail events.
Memorials may be made to the Dennis & Donna Hospice House of Mercy in lieu of flowers.
