Elizabeth “Betty” Hohensee, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, January 27, 2025, at the Living Center West Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha.  The visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  The burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her children, Becky Kopp and husband Gilbert of Cedar Rapids, Craig Hohensee and wife Eileen of Blaine, MN, Stephanie Rosendale and husband Donald of Marion and Eric Hohensee and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Hakert, Amy (Gijs) Hohensee, Allan Rosendale, and Chloe (Cameron) Sievers; five great grandchildren, Allie, Ashton, Caitlin, Tesla, and Ronin; a brother, Donald (Sue) Ruley, and extended loving family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and spouse, Lloyd Hohensee in 2012.

Betty was born on September 19, 1936, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Gerjets) Ruley. Betty was united in marriage to Lloyd Hohensee on July 14, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. In 1965 she started at Collins Radio and retired in 1995, after 30 years of service.  Betty was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association and Eden United Church of Christ. She most recently was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha.

Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles, grandchildren and their activities, traveling, quilting groups at church, church women’s fellowship, going to lunch, Koinonia, and church council. Above all her greatest delight was her family, whom she dearly loved.
