Born November 26, 1940, in Waukon, Iowa, Carol was one of 6 children born to Clarence and Alvina (Nagel) Klocke. After graduating from Waukon High School, she moved to Marion where she worked for Rockwell Collins and later J-Tec. She met and married her first husband Richard Kummer in 1965. They became the proud parents of Steven Kummer and Kristine Kummer.
After her divorce from Richard, Carol married Joe Weiland in 1975 and was blessed to join the lives of his three children, Dustin, Douglas and Darin. They later divorced and she moved to Cedar Rapids and retired from Oral B in Iowa City and then for 13 years she worked at Hy-Vee Wilson Ave SW, gaining many life-long friendships along the way. She was a strong, independent woman who made it through every adversity stronger and more resilient. She loved to play cards, read and spend time with family, especially her grandchildren, and her friends. She loved cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers. She had a love for animals, her dog Piere (aka Petie) was her constant companion for 20 years. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers, feeding and watching wildlife near her home.
Her hope is that her love, laughter and smile will never be forgotten.
“Death could not erase her, she is permanent”
