Madalene “Millie” G. Schuman, 102, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday December 31, 2025, in her home surrounded by family. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Prairie Bible Church, Cedar Rapids, where a visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. Pastor Billy Molinari will be officiating. A luncheon will follow the funeral service, followed by burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.  Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda (Steve) Exley-Schuman of Mount Vernon, Iowa. She also had nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Gib and Glenn and sister Darlene Binley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leland “Bud” Schuman, brothers Preston, Rolland, Lilburn and Keith, and sister Henrietta Lehman, brothers-in-law Raymond Guilford, Gene Binley, and Gib Lehman, sisters-in-law Barb Paulsen, Ann Paulsen, Alice Paulsen, and Jean Paulsen and Mary Paulsen.

Millie was born August 19, 1923, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Etten) Paulsen. She was married to Bud Schuman on May 19, 1945 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She and Bud farmed east of Anamosa for more than 40 years – dairy, hogs and row crops.

Millie taught Sunday school for 16 years at Monticello Peace United Church of Christ. She was a 4-H Club leader. She was a regular attendee at the Great Jones County Fair. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Greater Jones County Regional Medical Center.

She and Bud attended dances throughout the area, especially the Prairieburg Ballroom. She enjoyed wood carving with Bud, and crafts, painting and playing cards.
