Lyle Dean Lowery, 83, of Newton; formerly of Cedar Rapids, died on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Traditions Memory Care in Newton. A visitation will be held on Monday April 28, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverand Amy Wharton will officiate.
Lyle, the son of Loren and Alma Lucille (Burrell) Lowery, was born on July 23, 1941, in Urbana. He grew up in Urbana and graduated from Urbana High School. In October of 1963, Lyle was united in marriage with Donna Teager in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, where Lyle began working as a welder and mechanic. He later had a 30-year career at General Mills, retiring in 2012.
Lyle enjoyed fishing and camping. He and Donna also loved traveling and took many great trips together. After a short time in Bondurant, they moved to Newton in 2023.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Donna Lowery of Newton; children, Carl Lowery (Amy Wharton) of Robinson, Illinois, Michelle Lowery of Des Moines, and Melissa Watters of Newton; his grandchildren, Rebecca (Shamus) Straight and Trenten Watters; great-grandchildren, James, Lorelai, and Tavin; and his siblings, Sherry (Harlan) Burke, Burrell (Catherine) Lowery, and Bradley (Roberta) Lowery. Also surviving is a brother in law, Robert Rinehart of Victor, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Seth Watters; and a sister, Shirley Rinehart.
