As a friend of Dave's, I always loved to hang out and the Brousard's. Daves parents were awesome to me. Dave, I am sorry for the loss of your Dad. I had such great times at your home with the rest of our crew. I pray that you and your family are well and are comforted in knowing you Dad is in a far better place and you will join him one day. God bless my friend.

I had the great pleasure of being on the same football officiating crew for many years with Bill. Jim Meskimen (R), Bill (U), Dick Christy (FJ) and I (HL) worked many, many high school and college games together. Bill was always the glue that kept our crew together. As in his elementary administration work, Bill had the greatest demeanor and was the consummate football official He could be firm, but always in a way that drew respect. I think it's ironic that Bill passed near the same time as his great walking partner, Bill Quinby. I bet they are walking blocks and blocks together in heaven and talking about all the good times. Bill Brousard was one of the most influential persons in my life and I feel blessed to have been his friend. Peace and love to Barb and all the family.

I just happened upon Bill‘s obituary when reading someone else’s. I was very surprised to hear of his passing and give my condolences to the family. But I have to say that as an elementary student of Harrison school many years ago, of course, Bill was the principal there and was highly respected. When I’ve talked to other people about my elementary years, I’ve always said that Bill was a terrific principal. You had a reverential fear of Bill. That was a good thing, you knew he cared and he kept things in line at school. It made you feel safe and secure. I’ve run into him many times over the years and always enjoyed visiting with him. He knew my parents as well and he was a great person. He truly did leave a lasting, and amazing impression upon me. May God comfort you in this time, Chris Holub

DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE BROUSARD FAMILY. ENJOYED THE BROUSARD FAMILY OVER THE YEARS TEACHING AND COACHING. BILL PLAYED A GOOD THIRD BASE. WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE OUR ASSOCIATION WITH BILL AND HIS FAMILY. LES AND DIANE SANTEE

Bill was my friend and fellow educator. Always a gentleman and an effective leader. I watched him officiate, always with a level of fairness. We had a long connection in many ways. I join with his family in celebrating his life. He made a difference in all he did. A life well lived. William C. Jacobson Fellow educator.

Sincere condolences for your loss Barb. One of the nicest guys who lived across the hall from our room at ISTC! It was always a joyful moment whenever we would cross paths in Cedar Rapids. Of course thought of Bill recently when seeing Bill Quimby passed. We enjoyed occasional meetings on the same walking path! Bill was everything all the people are saying!

Time passes on and our world must say goodbye to a true role model in caring and leadership. I taught music at Nixon Elementary and always felt so supported. Blessings to his family as they say goodby to a treasure of a man.

Looking back, I realize how fortunate we were to have such an amazing principal. Mr. Brousard didn't just manage the school; he nurtured it. His leadership and compassion left an indescribable mark on all of us! My Mom, Catherine Bachman, ran the Cleveland cafeteria and considered him a friend also. Thanks for being such a respectful influence on many! Sending our condolences to Barb, and all the family, at this difficult time.

Many years ago I was selected as an Administrative Intern for the Cedar Rapids School District. Fortunately for me I was placed at Cleveland Elementary, and Bill Brousard was assigned as my mentor. Even though my time at Cleveland was relatively short, it gave me the opportunity to work with Bill and to see the warm personality and professional leadership he offered to the teachers and staff. I also observed Bill's true love of engaging with children and the assistance he offered them whenever the need arose. Bill's attitude and dedication became guidelines for me personally throughout my educational career. His assistance and friendship were always just a phone call away! Bob "Mick" McNiel

Kris and Barb, Even though we only knew Bill for a short time at The Gardens, we are sending our sincere condolences. We missed him at Terry’s table and was so surprised to hear of his passing. I remember the first time meeting Bill at Easter when my granddaughter was passing out Easter candy and gave some to Bill. Barb, I hope you are settled in your new home and enjoyed our short time of knowing you and your family. May you find peace. Terry, LaDonna and family.

My condolences to the Brousard family. From the time Mr. Brousard was my P.E. teacher at Kenwood, to the times I ran into him years later, he was an individual who gave you time and showed a genuine interest. A person who served as a positive role model.

Dave,Kelly,Anna and Kerry Bill's life will leave a lasting impression and he will be missed by so many. No one survives a loss without a web of people, a community of family, friends, and even the power of compassionate strangers.

Mr Broussard leaves behind decades of a wonderful legacy! He was my principal at Cleveland many years ago but I still remember him calling several of us 6th grade girls into his office before we moved on to Jr high. He offered encouragement and wisdom at such a young and impressionable time of our lives. When we came back for our 10 year reunion I invited him to my parents house to see all the girls all grown up and he came!! It was such a special day that he cared enough to come see us!! I hope you enjoy all the special memories people are sharing!! Many blessings and thanks for sharing him!

To the premiere Brousard Family: TO THE FAMILY, THE C.R.C.S.D., Football and Basketball Crew Members, and all who knew him . . . The world has lost a phenomenal gentleman, Supreme Educator, high school official, and onevof the greatest in the city of Cedar Rapids. So many people knew how fantastic he was as a teacher and administrator in every phase of elementary, junior high, and high school education. I can't say enough about the value he showed everyone he was around. He was a head referee who was second to none. I wish I could have been in a school he operated whether I was a student, teacher, Coach, or fellow administrator!! I only wish I could have been around in the last decade or so. May God bless the Brousard Family. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you. With deepest sympathy and highest 🙏 respect! Randy Krejci A memorial in his name will be sent to you, Barb, this weekend.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Brousard's passing. He was my principal at Cleveland when I was in elementary school. Then, I had the privilege of teaching under his leadership. He did so much to help me begin my teaching career in the Cedar Rapids district. Every time that I saw him he asked about my parents and siblings. What a memory he had! I appreciated his kindness and generosity throughout my life! He will be greatly missed!

The fact that Bill and his wife Barb had three children who never moved away is proof in itself of the kind of wonderful person Bill was. He, the strong silent type who let a pun or a bit of wisdom slip out; she, the personable lady who cooked for us and shared her home. And the three kids all turned out great! Only in Iowa do they grow them like this. You will be sorely missed, Bill. Love, Debbie Uhrina (sister to Bill's daughter-in-law, Kelly Brousard)

Dear Barb, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Brousard’s passing. As my 1st PE teacher at Madison in the 60’s, he was larger than life. A believer in equal opportunities for all, he was a big influence on my athletic career. His “big smile” greeting was the best! Prayers to you and the family.

God greets him with “well done, well done, my good and faithful servant” as he is welcomed into eternal life and Grace. A life of kindness and consideration, along with good humor, makes for a wonderful example for all of us to aspire. Many thanks for setting a high bar!

I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Brousard’s passing. He had a BIG impact on my life! First as my principal at Harrison Elementary where I may have met Mr Brousard’s paddle a couple of times (I deserved it and it made me a better student), then after I graduated from ISU, the University would not let my wife transfer her student teaching to Cedar Rapids when I got a job here, so I called Mr Brousard at Cleveland and he wrote me a letter stating he would gladly have my wife join his staff that year, which led to her 35 year teaching career here in Cedar Rapids. He was truly one of the best educators CR has ever had. Rest in Peace Mr. Brousard - you now “Get to go to Heaven”! Prayers to the family.

Bill was an icon in CR especially in the CR schools. He was highly respected and inspired many staff and students to excel. He will be missed by many. My prayers and thoughts to his family. God bless Jim Voss

I was lucky enough to work with Mr B at Nixon Elementary. Finding out his wife’s dad was my mom’s principal at Milford school and his son David was friends with a classmate, Lana, from Story City we were able to share stories. He was a very caring man who always would look students in the eye when talking to them showing you how he loved his students making them feel they mattered. Sending love and prayers, Barb Owenson

Mr. Brousard was simply The BEST Principal Coolidge was blessed to have. I am grateful he was there for my son Ryan from K-4th grade. From all of my family to yours, please know we are keeping you in thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Kris, I am also so grateful to have shared my time at the bank with you. Peace be with you all. Hugs and Love

Bill was an outstanding educator and more importantly, a wonderful individual who was an inspiration to all that knew him and had the privilege to work with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family. He will be missed. Tom Micek
