When I first moved to Cedar Rapids, it took me awhile to meet her because she depended on family to interpret for her. I soon realized that she was a powerful force in the local Deaf community. She got involved and got things done. She did finally let me and other interpreters work with her. I appreciated her smile and her knowing looks and nods. She also was quite proud of her Nebraska roots and her children. It was so shocking that she was gone so quickly.
I am so sorry that I wasn’t able to be there at funeral. I came down sick and didn’t want to spread my germs.
Please accept my sympathy on your loss. She will be missed by many.

I am truly sorry to hear about Lennis' death. Hugs and prayers sending to you all. I was surprised that she was from our hometown (Alliance) while I was newly married to my husband living in Iowa. When we meet in person, we would chat what was brewing in Alliance.
