I am so greatly saddened by this news of Roger's passing. I have such fond and fun memories with all of you, back in our Coe days. My heart goes out to you all.

I was very saddened to hear that Roger had passed away. Such a kind man and beautiful family. I played football and ran track with Roger at Wahlert High School. A great and strong football player, that could run other players over! I also have a memorial of Roger running track in relay races with other fast runners on the team, with Roger going so fast and full steam ahead! I remember wondering how could such a big man run so fast! Such a site to see, like they say, “poetry in motion. “ I hope everyone can savor the memories of Roger, and keep celebrating his life and know he will be missed. CE

I was so saddened to hear about Roger. I met Roger and his sister Ruthann at Coe College ('90). He was one of the reasons Coe was such a magical place to learn and grow. He was kind, gentle, thoughtful, quiet. He said more with his eyes and actions and when he did speak each word was measured and meaningful. He was strong in stature and in conviction. At a time when part of who I am was considered unacceptable, he embraced me. At times, I felt I had a protector, for he would speak up when he felt anyone, not just me, was not being treated fairly or respected as a fellow human being. He inspired me in my own fitness journey, giving me tips on exercise and diet that I still use to stay healthy and fit. I will remember his smile, the twinkle in his eye when I got him to laugh, his hard work ethic in the theatre and music department, his quiet demeanor, his physical strength and his generous, kind spirit. To his wife, his daughters, Ruthann and his whole family and inner circle of friends, my deepest sympathies and condolences. Roger lives on in you and everyone he touched. Chet

My deepest sympathy sorry for your loss. I was a employee at Ingredion, Roger was a plant facilitator and when we seen each we always had great conversations about the world or anything going on in our families! Great guy! Surely will be missed! R.I.P

Family and friends of Roger, my deepest condolences. I worked with Roger at Home Depot. He shared stories about his girls. I'm from a family of 6 girls. We too have 2 born on the same day just a year apart. He was kind and caring person. I will light a candle at church for Roger. Take care of each other at this difficult time.

Amy and Family, my deepest condolences on the passing of Roger. I always found him to be one of the nicest guys in our class (‘85) who shared his infectious smile and a kind word readily with everyone. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Amy and girls. I look out my front door and think of so many wonderful times, so many memories, so much love. It was truly the best of times to raise children in this neighborhood. You were truly blessed with a wonderful father and husband Amy. I'm sure your faith will see you through this but it is unimaginable to me that he is gone. Rest in peace Roger. Love always.

Amy and Family- I was so shocked and saddened to read of Roger’s death! I hadn’t seen him for awhile so I had no idea about his health. He was truly a great guy and even better family man! Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Amy and the entire Oberfoell family: You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Amy: so sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. You and your family are in the thoughts and prayers. I just lost my husband as well, so if you ever would just like to talk, I’m here.

Amy and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. I remember him well from Wahlert and always found him to be a friend to everyone. Please know he and your family are in my thoughts at this time of loss.

I am so sorry for your loss! Roger was such a sweet person! I met him at Coe, and remember him working with Collage and other music programs. Everyone was truly blessed to know him.

Ruth Ann, Bill & Family- Our hearts are heavy after hearing of your loss. Bill will be remembered as a sweet, gentle man. We are praying for all of you today and in the days ahead. We know God will embrace Roger with open arms. Brad & Jennifer (Kelleher) Swearingen
