John Franklin Locher passed away from Lewy Body dementia on Thursday, June 16 in his home with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife Laura and his five children John (Crystal Everett), Tim, Nick (Kathleen), Mary Anne (Ed Wolfe), and Michael (Angela). His grandchildren Catie, Max, Luke, Claire, James, Betsy, Teddy, Claudia, Joan, Maren, expected great-grandson, Rumi, sister & brother-in-law Anne & Herb Knudten, nieces and nephew Caroline Godfrey, Barb Knudten, Bill Knudten, along with many well-loved extended family members. He is preceded in death by his mother, Esther and father, John.

John had a tremendous impact on the lives of those around him and in the community. He was a loving husband for over 52 years to the love of his life.  John was a wonderful father to his five children and an amazing poppa to his grandchildren.  He was an adored son, a proud little brother (Best Boy), a kind and generous friend, a fun uncle, a beloved cousin, a caring brother-in-law, and loving father-in-law. As a lawyer he was honest, fair, and respected. His greatest satisfaction as an attorney was his work with adoptions.

John will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, his generosity, his commitment to social justice, his competitiveness, and his fierce loyalty to his family.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Green Square Meals, Community Health Clinic, Haiti Committee (All Saints Catholic Church), Mercy Hospice, or HallMar Village.

Our everlasting gratitude goes to Terry and Joan Murrin, our team of compassionate caregivers, and Mercy Hospice especially Karen, Karissa, Amy, and Sara.
