I'm sorry to hear of Mr. Johnson's passing. I knew that he did so many things for the community, saved lives, and made life fun and interesting for many. He was a terrific Father and Friend . I knew him from years ago while he taught and coached speed skating to a few of my friends. I was also friends with his daughter. He was an awesome person. My prayers and condolences go out for him, his family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Jim’s passing, I spent many years going around the ice rink with him yelling ( but down head up ) I never got great at it but he never gave up on mean it is some of the best memories I Have.

Barb and family I’m sorry for your loss. I worked with Jim at CRFD for a short time. Jim was a great guy and he helped me early in my career. He was so genuine in everything he did. He will be missed. Rest In Peace Jim.

So sorry Barb, Dan, Becky, Dawn, Jan... My Deepest Sympathies to hear about Jim's death. He was such a good man. He will be missed Barb and his Love was one of a kind. Enjoy your memories. God Bless Debbie Smith/ Barger

Sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We worked together for a lot of years and I considered him a good friend.

To Barb and family --So sorry to hear about Jim deepest sympathy's. Barb and Jim were the nicest people I have ever meant. They took me into there home to live when I was 16 years old and treated me like one of there kids. I didn't realize it then "51 years ago" but I sure do now how they saved my life. Good people inside and out. He tried to teach me how to spend skate but I was to slow but I tried. Barb, Dan, Dawn, Jan, and Becky felt like family to me at that time. Jim was my Mom's cousin I never could figure out how though. He gave me all his genealogy research a few years back so if any of you are interested I'll share. His and Barb's Love was so strong it was always comforting being around them. God Bless and Rest in Peace. Thank You Deb Barger

To Barb, Dorothy, and all of Jim's family: Sincere sympathy to all of you on your loss of Jim. I share in your sorrow and wish you many fond memories of him. He truly was a kind soul! Part of his legacy will be the positive impact he had on many people, especially children, during his career with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, and his penchant for teaching kids to speed skate, ride horses, fish, and have fun doing it! As a retired firefighter myself, a career I pursued with Jim's encouragement, I considered Jim a "Brother" firefighter and loved him as such. And he gave it right back! God Bless Our Fallen Brother.
