Jan, I'm sorry this is reaching so late, but I only heard of John's passing this morning. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Boyd

To the entire Airy Family, Our deepest condolence for the loss of your Husband, Father, Grandfather & Father-in-law. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

John, didn't I just see you on TV a few weeks ago, talking about crops, keeping us city folk informed. Will miss you.

So sad to hear that a lifelong friend has passed. Hugs being sent to John's family and friends. So many memories from 2nd grade through high school of John. I am so blessed to have had time to catch up with him at our Class of '60 reunions. I loved hearing stories of his farming experiences and of his family. Our next reunion will not be the same without John there. May the family's memories bring great comfort.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family during this difficult time. John has been a friend of mine since our junior high days at LinnMar. We palled around together through High School , especially in our Vocational Ag /FFA classes. One great memory I have was on an FFA trip to Yellowstone . Back in the fifties the bears would come to the window of cars looking for food. Well, one of us in the car decided to make a circle with shaving cream around the bear’s eye. Then, the next bright idea was to crawl on top of the car and make a hat out of shaving cream on the bear’s head! By now the bear was getting irritated so we thought it was best to move on . That was risky business! Lucky to drive away ! The passengers included John , Weaver, Weaver’s brother and me. Tom Hanna Class of 1960 .

John you will be missed. Who is going tell what the best tractor is? First got to know John is the 4th grade. John came over to our house, I believe in the 7th grade, and my Mom pointed out to me how neat John clothes were packed. Spent many time arguing the merits over the John Deer tractor versus the Aliis Chalmers. Guesses you were right John as the Aliis Chalmers is no longer made. I still have a scar on my arm from when in high school we were screwing around on the lath down in the Shop while a basketball game was going on or along with Tom Hanna letting the air out of my brothers sleeping back on our FFA tip up to the Dakotas’ with Bruno Rinas.

Haven't seen him since High School and in photos Gary sent me of the Class of 60 reunions. I can see him today in that white 54 Ford he drove back then.He was a good friend. Rest in peace.

A very good neighbor, John lived just over the hill from my parents, Bill and Dorothy Sherman. It was always a pleasure to talk with John and see what he was currently up to. I think I first met John back in the 60's on the CB radio, when CBs were the big thing! Prayers to the family.

A favorite trick of John's was to sneak up behind you as you were engaged in conversation with some one, take out his zippo lighter, lite it and hold it to your fanny for a short time,, then put it away and disappear.Soon you would feel the heat and turn around and nobody was there. Always good for a laugh. John maybe gone but not his zippo. So beware. Gary Clemenson class of 60

In the late 50s we were in the middle of a huge snow storm. The roads were a mess. Just as they closed the classes at the high school John arrived on his tractor. Everybody had a good laugh. John loved his tractors. He is now at the tractor pull in the sky. Rest in peace John

John, now you can chat with Don again... when you called a few weeks ago, although I could hear in your voice you were getting tired, you still were being “feisty”.... ??. Now you can rest and hurt no more! Thinking about you Jan, Hugs??

My condolences to the Airy family. John was always a favorite high school classmate of mine; we shared a love of cars, he always had the car I wanted. He loved farming; he once took me out to his family's farm home, I could tell he loved living there. Rest in peace John. Tom Curtis, Class of 1960

Thoughts and prayers at this time. Always remember John for his Zippo lighter in his pocket, his sense of humor with his unique laugh. Smiled last week when I saw him out at the farm mowing with trailer hooked up to the Lincoln and him out on the mower in his usual daily attire. Kathy remembers him for his humor when he would come into the GB&T on 7th ave. Bless you all and the best to his loved ones. Carl & Kathy
