Lois Ann Muench, 92, of Cedar Rapids passed on into the presence of her Saviour on April 24, 2024.

One of two children, Lois was born Lois Ann Irene Lehne in Guttenberg, Iowa on July 7, 1931 to parents Arthur E. Lehne and Lydia (Harnisch) Lehne. She attended Guttenberg High School from which she graduated in 1949; she worked for the Style Shop before spending four decades at Security State Bank until her retirement in 1996. She met her husband Irvin H. Muench in 1958 at Lakeside Ballroom in Guttenberg. They were married at Guttenberg’s Trinity Lutheran Church on April 11, 1959, and welcomed their two children in the early 1960s.  Guttenberg was her home for over 76 years until moving to Cedar Rapids following the passing of her husband.

Lois is survived by her daughter Diane of Hiawatha, Iowa; her son Bradley (Patricia) of
Daytona Beach Shores, Florida; her grandchildren Hillary of Hiawatha, Iowa; Taylor (Bradley Saxe) of Roswell, Georgia; sister-in-law Norma Lehne of Monticello, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by parents Arthur E. and Lydia, brother Arthur C., and husband Irvin.

Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed Westerns and Romance novels. Early on she took yearly family vacations with her husband and children. Her first plane ride was to London, England joining her son for a cultural study program, and that experience deepened her life-long penchant for travel.  Following retirement, Lois and Irvin continued traveling, spending time with family including grand dogs, and exploring other states.  Lois was always ready for a good game of Bingo.  She enjoyed attending musicals and plays at local theaters and developed a fondness for hockey, being a season-ticket holder for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders until 2015.

Lois lived her life as an example of a strong, loving mother, grandmother and friend.  One to share her sweet smile with everyone, her deep faith in God gave her comfort and helped her to face the challenges of the past few years with Hope, Peace and Dignity.  She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

The family of Lois would like to offer their gratitude to Mercy Hospice, To the Rescue, and Prairie Hills Assisted Living for the compassionate care they provided Lois during her final years.

Lois’s visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The visitation is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 am with Reverend Navurskis presiding. A private family burial will take place in Guttenberg, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to King of Kings Lutheran Church in her memory.
