Eugene Walter Fruendt, 79, passed away May 7, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Eugene was born June 16, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, to Walter and Vernice (Bortz) Fruendt. He was a sheet metal machinist for 40 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966- 1969; he was stationed in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Eugene was scheduled to travel to Washington D.C. on Honor Flight 59 but passed away a few days short of the trip.
Eugene enjoyed snowmobiling, was active in a snow skiing club, traveled to the Galapagos Islands and restored vintage cars.
Eugene is survived by his uncle, Willard Bortz, several cousins, and sister-in-law, Sue.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry.
