Michael A. Beke, 65, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 29, 2026, after a brief illness. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2026, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Cathleen; daughter Emily and her husband Nathan Berglund, and their children Olivia and Hallie; and sons Christopher Beke and Matthew Beke. He is also survived by his siblings, Monica and her husband Ron Wozniak; Peter and his wife Mary Beke, and their daughter, Maria; Thomas and his wife Luboslava Beke, and their children Victoria and Alexander; and Dorothy Beke; brothers-in-law Christopher Jacques and his daughters Kelly and Courtney; and Lawrence and his wife Karen Jacques, and Larry’s children Allen, and Melissa Perez. He has many cherished cousins in Germany, Canada, Hungary, and Sweden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Andrew and Dr. Margaret Beke. 

Mike was Director of Quality at PMX Industries until his retirement, when he became a school bus driver for Linn-Mar Community Schools. He was an assistant scoutmaster with scout Troop 560 and past president of the Knights of Columbus 5390. He organized the Persons with Intellectual Disability/Tootsie Roll drive for the Knights for many years.

Mike lived for his time at the family cottage on McKay Lake outside Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, and couldn't wait every summer to introduce his granddaughters to the wonders of cottage life, fishing, and shish kebabs. He could fix anything, and was in the process of installing a bathroom for his daughter. He was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, where he earned a bachelor of engineering degree in 1983. He earned a master of business administration degree in 1995 from the University of New Haven. Donations in his memory may be made to Scouting USA or to St. Pius X Church.
