Alicia Marie (Brooks) Donald, “Lisa,” passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 12, 2026.
She was born May 6, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Melvin Raydell Brooks and Constance Lea (Rice) Hillsman.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1979.
Over her beautiful life she had the pleasure of working at Quaker Oats, Apac, Hacap, and the Cedar Rapids Community School District. As well as many years as a daycare provider for her family and friends.
On March 18, 2023, she married the love of her life “Cool B,” they spent the last 13 years “living life;” traveling, playing cards and chilling at Tucker Park. Lisa enjoyed gardening, sewing, watching sports, “Lakers,” and cooking.
Alicia was proceeded in death by her parents, Melvin Raydell Brooks, and Constance (Rice) Hillsman; uncles, Eugene (Jan) Brooks, Billy Joe Brooks; and her stepson Josh Donald.
Her immediate surviving family members include husband, Broderick Donald; children, Felicia Brooks (Jeff Butler), Nicole Brooks, Bianca Taylor, and Bailey Taylor III; her stepdaughters Caroline Luter Dobbins, and Briana Donald; her 9 grandchildren, Shaniya, Shaliya, Nicolai, Niyanna, Nishaun, Jayla, Jayla, Nijae, and Amaris; and her children’s father Bailey Taylor II.
She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Michael) Lloyd, Laurel Clarke, Theresa (Marc) Sturges, Susan (Ann Freeman) Brooks; her step-siblings, Victoria Hillsman, Valerie Hillsman, Tammy Smith, and Murray Hillsman Jr.; her uncles, Paul Brooks and Nolan Brooks as well as her special friends Sandra Davis & Octavia Wade and her special sister Joyce Taylor. She also has a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Out of the “5 Brooks girls” Liz, Lisa, Lori, Lea, and Lynee: Lisa’s on her way back to her father and mother’s home!! “Lisa,” “Mom,” “Grammy,” you will be very greatly missed but all of us will continue to live on because life has been lifting you and you deserve to finally get your rest too!!
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
