Larry Allan Nelson, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:30 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Larry was born January 18, 1949, to Allan and Elaine (Elmore) Nelson in Cedar Rapids. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Julie Miller on August 8, 1987, in Cedar Rapids. He was member of the Central Iowa Garden Railroad Society.
He enjoyed spending time outside working in his garden, working on his ornamental iron works and garden railroad projects, and socializing with friends and family. He loved his family and cherished the time with them.
Larry is survived by his wife, Julie; stepsons, Brian (Joy) Miller, and Mark (Amanda) Miller; grandchildren, Evan and Brendan Miller, and Oliver Miller; sisters, Sammi (Irv) Janney, and Gloria (Tom) Thune; along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
