Gerald Raymond Pollock was born to Alice (Bruns) Pollock and Raymond Pollock on October 8, 1930. Lived his life in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Roosevelt High. Attended Iowa State University and got a BS in agriculture. He then joined his father working in the grain elevator business in Walford and Norway and then Watkins, Iowa.

He met and married Verla Clifton in 1959. They adopted two infants: Anne in 1964 and John in 1966. Jerry also played the piano, was a Mason, a Shriner, and in those early years he played mostly on Friday nights at Shakey’s Pizza as he worked 6 days per week at the elevators. On weekends, he enjoyed baseball, his train set, and playing with his kids. In the early 1980’s he was forced to claim bankruptcy on his elevators due to circumstances. Verla left and they divorced in 1984. Jerry continued to work in the grain business as an employee until he retired in 1992 and then played in bands and took various other jobs into his upper 80’s. He also spent a lot of time going to grandchildren’s games and also going dancing and playing in bands for fun.

He is preceded in death by his son, John, his parents, his brother Jim, and his wife Ina Mae, his ex-wife Verla, and his special friend and dance partner for over 20 years, Virginia Kuester

He is survived by his daughter, Anne Pollock, grandson, Alex Pollock (Cait Dozark), granddaughter, Amelia Runnfeldt (Nick) and great grandchildren, Rory Runnfeldt and Luca Runnfeldt, nieces, Kathy Burleson, and Karen Pollock. Cousin Shirley Parker (Bob), and other extended family. He will be missed by so many.

The family would like to thank the Kuester family and Tammi Jones for their contributions and help with his care in his final weeks.
