James Turner, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home. Services will be held Friday January 28, 2022, 10:00am, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation; Thursday January 27, 2022, 4:00-7:00pm at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth, daughter, Troy Lynn Schuler of Marion, sons, James (Marie) Turner of Palmer Alaska and Scott (Katrina) Turner of Marion. Grandchildren; Nikki Kibler, Derek Turner, Deania Schuler, Lance Turner and Vanessa Turner and five great grandchildren. Brothers; John Turner, Dave Turner and Tom Turner.
James was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Bonnie, Maxine, Liz, brothers; George, Arthur, Paul and Bill.
James Edward Turner was born August 5,1937 in Hocking, Iowa to parents, John and Mary Turner. He graduated from Albia High School in 1955 and joined the United States Army in October of 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Jim married Ruth Bequeaith on January 19, 1963. They moved to Cedar Rapids and started their family. Jim worked for National Oats and retired from ADM after 38 years. His hobbies included woodworking, boating, camping, supporting the Hawkeyes and spending time with his grandkids, great grandkids, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Unity Point Hospice.
