Kenneth G. Haas, Age, 79, passed away at the Meth-Wick Community on Saturday, December 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1st Avenue, NW, Cedar Rapids, IA on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:30PM with a vigil service beginning at 5PM, and also at St. Jude’s Catholic Church on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 9AM until mass at 10AM with Father Nick March presiding. Interment to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Memorial Lawn.
Ken was born on March 5, 1943, in Plain, WI. He was the son of the late Ludwig and Esther (Ruhland) Haas. On April 15, 1967, Ken married the love of his life, Gerry Gongwer in Cedar Rapids, IA. Ken’s first job was with Collins Radio where he helped develop the signal processor on the lunar module on Apollo 13. He loved reading, camping with his family, and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.
Those left to cherish Ken’s memory are his wife, Gerry of Cedar Rapids; his children, Jeff (Cathy) Haas of Eau Claire, WI, Tim (Gen) Haas of Jefferson City, MO, Mark (Betsy) Haas, of Wentzville, MO, Cindy (Scott) Perry of Winterset, IA, and Christy (Keith) Koot, of Gurnee, IL; his grandchildren, Brad, Cory, Ben, Carter, Drew, Ileana, Ethan, Gavyn, Ainslee, Ashlyn, Lauren and Ava; his brothers, Ralph (Maxine) Haas of Spring Green, WI, and Dick Haas of Rochester, MN; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Carol) Gongwer of Marion, IA, Roy (Lori) Gongwer, of Carlisle, IA, and Ray (Jenny) Gongwer of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Lorraine, Margaret, Butch, Lucille, Rita, Louis, and Clete, and his best friend, Ken White.
