Michael J Barton, 77, of Solon, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday September 27, 2026, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. Funeral Mass will be held Friday October 23, 2026, 10:30 am at St Ludmilla Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, October 22, 2026, 4:00-7:00 pm.
Survivors include his sons, Joe (Angie) Barton, Jon (Angelia) Barton, and Curt Barton, all of Cedar Rapids, stepdaughter, Cindy (Anthony) Ackerman, of Marion, and stepson, Michael Humphrey, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kay Barton, and a grandson, Denver.
Michael Joseph Barton was born on September 6, 1949 in Cedar Rapids to Joseph and Darlene Barton. He married Laurene Kay Frezek on February 7, 1970. He later married Mary Kay Humphrey (Wise) on August 19, 1995. Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. .
Michael worked for United Parcel Service for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushrooming. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, and friends, will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial donations may be directed to St Ludmila Catholic Church or St Vincent de Paul Society.
