Memorial

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marie A. Sabadie on April 15, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 12, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri, Marie left this world gently and surrounded by the love of her family at HallMar Village, following a brief illness.

Marie was the beloved daughter of the late Louis and Miriam Sabadie, and her cherished stepmother Vestella Cantrell. She is now reunited with them, along with her grandparents, aunts, and uncles who predeceased her. Her spirit and memory will live on through her surviving family—her devoted sisters Shawn Hanewinkel (Gary) and Beth Koelm (Mark). She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephew, Bailey Pashia (Dustin), Briana Wood (Jake), Mason Koelm (Madi), and great-niece Lorelei Pashia, all of whom she adored and cherished deeply.

For over two decades, Marie dedicated her professional life to the United States Probation Office in St. Louis, MO, where she worked as a team specialist. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and supportive presence, always quick to lend a hand and offer guidance with her characteristic warmth and generosity.

Marie’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the joy of simple pleasures. She had a passion for playing cards and games, which she enjoyed immensely with her family and friends, particularly the lively groups at HallMar that brought her so much happiness. Marie’s true joy came from spending time with her nieces and nephew, who were the light of her life.

Marie was known for her generous spirit, always ready to help those in need. Her compassion extended beyond her immediate circle, as she was a committed supporter of various animal and children's causes. Her legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire those who knew her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at HallMar Village and Hospice of Mercy for their exceptional care and compassion during Marie’s final days. Their kindness will forever be remembered.

In honor of Marie’s life and her giving nature, donations can be made to the Hospice Of Mercy in Cedar Rapids, IA. This memorial fund will help continue the compassionate care that Marie received.

As we remember Marie, let us celebrate her life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
