Dear Kathy, Chris, Katy, Molly, and Families, It is with great sadness we have learned of John’s death. The reminiscing we have done has brought many smiles and warm memories. We were friends, neighbors, and Washington HS swim parents . We will always remember John as such a kind man who was an exemplary friend, professional, community member, husband, father, grandfather and was a friend to many. We are picturing him walking and waving as he passed by our house. We will hold onto that memory . One of the hardest things about not living in Cedar Rapids anymore is not being able to extend our condolences or offer our support in person. Please know you are in our thoughts across the miles. Very sincerely, Dana and John Ehrhart

Mrs. Lamb and Chris, we are so sorry for your loss. May your memories be a comfort to you and your family -- Marty and Jim Gieryng (aunt and uncle of Paul Keyes)

Kathy. I was so sorry to hear about John's passing. We had just discussed the process of aging and our husband's health when our paths crossed at Michaels Crafts. I know you have a wonderful supportive family and friends to lean on during these sad times. Let them help you and take care of yourself. Bob and I are sending our prayers your way. Bob and Lois Buntz

Kathy and family, we wanted to let you know we’re thinking of you & prayers go out to you & your family during this difficult time.

Kathy and family, we are so saddened to hear about John. Memories are wonderful, starting with the time SO many years ago when we were neighbors in Cottage Grove Woods. John was meticulous about the street cleanliness and literally blew the leaves out of the curb area........... almost daily! He was always ready with assistance and just as importantly always ready with a smile. He surely leaves the world a better place. Our deepest sympathies to you all.

Molly and Kathy My Prayers are with Your Family. May You find comfort in knowing John is at rest and smiling down upon You to keep the Faith .He always had that smile on His face when the Girls were cheering for Washington and so proud. .Be encouraged Rita Robinson and Shante Brooks

Very surprised to be notified today of John's passing. A consistently good man. He will be remembered. He will be missed.

John was a very nice man! I always enjoyed my visits with him. I remember seeing him out walking frequently and briskly. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Kathy and family, I am sorry for your loss. John was so supportive and I trusted his judgment. First he married my best friend, then he hired me to work at New Process and when I had to leave to relocate to Texas, he took charge and sold my home. I will be forever grateful. Kathy, much love to you and your family.

Kathy and family, Just read about John's passing, and want to send our sincere condolences. We have a mirrored hat shaped box, which is actually not a good description, from the two of you many years ago. Sending a hug for you with our prayers. Belva and Duffy

What a great picture. John was always a kind soul. I especially remember he and Jim’s reunions and the very good accounting work he did for me when I ran for city council. He will be missed. Prayers for you and the family.

Wow, John a beautiful person and great husband. So sorry to just now read about his passing! Our prayers and love to the family and to all who will miss him and especially remember our fun times in the old days!

Kathy and family my deepest sympathy. So sorry to hear of John's passing my prayers to all .

Kathy we were saddened to hear of John's passing. He was the perfect gentleman with such a kind heart. We will always remember the beautiful stained glass lamp he made for us when we left Cedar Rapids for Washington D.C. He was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and family commitment. Please accept our sincere condolences once again. Unfortunately we are in Arizona and won't be back in Cedar Rapids until May 16 and will miss his service at Cedar Memorial. Peg and Jim Whalen

I was saddened to learn of John's death. He was a valued and appreciated member of the Indian Creek Nature Center Board of Directors many years ago. Rich Patterson, Director Emeritus, ICNC

Oh Kathy and Family, I am so sad to hear that you have lost your dear John. May you find comfort from the love of family and friends. I grieve with you.

I was so very sorry to hear about John's passing. I worked with John for many years at Skogman Hiawatha and always enjoyed chatting with him. I will be out of town on the 5th and would have liked to attend his memorial but I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping your many sweet memories bring you much comfort.
