Sheryl A. Phelps passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in Hiawatha, IA surrounded by her loving family. Sheryl’s Memorial Service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at FaithLife Church, 8300 C Avenue, Marion, IA 52302 with a 2:00 PM Celebration of Life at Elmcrest Country Club, 1 Zach Johnson Drive, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
She was born on April 15, 1960, in Ottumwa, IA to Glenn and Joan (Handy) Rullman. Sheryl was raised and went to school in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School in the class of 1979. Following High School, she attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in sales in 1985. Sheryl started in sales for Thompson West in Cedar Rapids, then various sales jobs with other companies throughout her career. Her final sales job was with Genesis Reference Labs as a Territory Manager before her retirement. She also worked in Real Estate for Coldwell Banker Hedges for a brief period.
She was a member of Elmcrest Country Club, where she loved to play golf and found many of her lifelong friendships, spent many summer weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks where she and Tom became part of the C-Dock family, and traveled to Maui for many years to enjoy the sun and sand. She loved to spend time with her family and was loved by all.
Sheryl was caring, generous, very organized especially when planning her various trips and outings, a loving mother and wife and had a special place in her heart for all the family dogs including the current dog, Maddie.
She is preceded in death by her father, Glenn Rullman; grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Tom, whom she married November 25, 1995, in Cedar Rapids; son, Landon Phelps; mother, Joan Rullman; brother, Alan (Bev) Rullman; nephews, Schyler & Logen
Rullman. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sandy (John) Claflin, brother-in-law, Danny (Donna) Phelps, and niece Carey (Jamie) Buresh.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the teams at the Hall Perrine Center in Cedar Rapids, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and especially the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House Team for their caring and compassion to Sheryl and the family.
