I came to work at Collins in June of 1978. John was my first department head. He was always a friendly guy and treated everyone in his department very well. One of my favorite memories is the Christmas parties he and Maggie hosted at their home for his department. It was a very lavish affair. I especially remember the mulled wine. A truly English treat. I will miss him. I'm glad he had a long and happy life.

I worked in John’s L-1011 flight control department when I started with Collins in the 1980’s. He was dedicated, and also adept at finding the phone numbers of whomever he needed to talk to, wherever they might be. John once invited me to fly with him by private plane to St. Louis where his daughter and my brother both worked for McDonnell Douglas. Although I agreed to go, I pulled out at the last minute because my wife was pregnant, and I had a feeling that I needed to stay. Although I was there for my son’s early birth on the day I would have been gone, I’m sorry to have missed out on a flight with John that I’m sure would have also been memorable. My condolences to John’s family.

It was my privilege to know John as a fellow resident at Cottage Grove Place. He was a good friend, and a great resident. He was always willing to share with others, and took great pride in his family and career. I celebrate his life. So many have benefitted by knowing him. To his family it was a joy to know John and Maggie Hall .

I was one of John's drivers at Cottage Grove and always looked forward to having chats with him. I found him to be a courteous, intelligent and sincere man.
I loved listening to his stories about aircrafts and because I'm also involved with Habitat for Humanity he threw in stories about that also.
I will miss John as will many others.
