Sandra C. Ugorek, a cherished mother, beloved wife, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the age of 76. She was born on January 11, 1949, in Maywood, Illinois, to Edwin Maurice Corn and Ruth Senger, who preceded her in death.
Sandra's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her deep compassion for all living creatures. She married Michael M. Ugorek in Lombard, Illinois, where they shared 30 wonderful years together before his passing. Sandra is survived by her son, David (Marie) Ugorek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and her daughter, Sabrina M. Ugorek of Oregon, Illinois, who continues to honor her legacy of love and kindness.
As a dedicated homemaker, Sandra devoted her life to caring for her children, always putting their needs above her own. She also lent her talents to various odd jobs when needed, showcasing her strong work ethic and determination to support her family. Although she did not complete a formal college education, Sandra’s passion for learning was evident in her many hobbies.
Sandra had a special affinity for animals, particularly her beloved cats, especially her cherished kitty, Smokey. While she tolerated the family's dogs with love, it was her connection with cats that truly defined her as a “cat person.” She found joy in crafting and had a unique talent for book repair and restoration, a hobby that reflected her meticulous nature and appreciation for art and literature.
In addition to her family and pets, Sandra was actively involved in her community. She was a proud Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, where she nurtured young minds and fostered a spirit of adventure and camaraderie among the scouts.
Despite her many roles, Sandra's defining characteristic was her immense love for her family. She created a warm and nurturing environment for her children, instilling in them the values of kindness, empathy, and resilience. Her sudden illness and passing due to natural causes leave a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Sandra’s funeral service will be held on May 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM – 4:00PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life and share cherished memories. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family encourages acts of kindness in Sandra's memory, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping others and her passion for nurturing all forms of life.
Sandra C. Ugorek will be remembered not only for her love of family, but also for her unwavering compassion and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be profoundly missed, but her love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
