It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Genera Christine Humbert, who left this world on April 30, 2025, at the age of 49. She was born to Nathan and Brenda Humbert on March 18, 1976, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Genera was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Genera dedicated herself to hard work and perseverance, holding various roles throughout her career, including positions at Walmart, Subway, Casey’s, and Burger King. She found joy in simple pleasures: savoring a good cup of coffee, immersing herself in video games, and crocheting intricate crafts and lovely blankets, which she enjoyed giving to her family and friends. Through her creativity, she brought beauty and comfort into the lives of those around her.
Beyond her passions, Genera was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity. Her infectious laugh could brighten any room, and her embrace was one of pure love, offering comfort to all who needed it. She had a special way of making those around her feel truly valued, and her compassionate spirit was a gift to everyone who knew her.
Genera is survived by her loving parents, Nathan Humbert and his wife Diane, Brenda Williams and her husband Randy "Oscar" Gavin, and her cherished children, Tyler (Alyssa) Merritt, Joshua (Kristin) Merritt, Kaden Rickard, Kylen Rickard, and Keiran Rickard, and the grandchildren she loved so deeply: Liara, Thane, Vivien, and Theodore; her sister Christie Humbert Netolicky, brothers Jason (Leah) Humbert, and James (Jennifer) Humbert, and her nieces Madison, Jordan, and Kailey, and nephew Garrett.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
