Cherie K. Wallace, 81, peacefully departed this world on Sunday, May 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A Remembrance Gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Cherie was born December 2, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Walter J. and Margaret M. (Johnson) Ernst. On May 4, 1985, Cherie entered into matrimony with Glenn Wallace in Cedar Rapids. The couple enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and long leisurely drives on Sunday afternoons. Cherie worked as an administrative assistant at the YMCA and for a local engineering company before retiring.
Along with a life-long passion for swimming, Cherie enjoyed music including singing with the Together in Song Chorus through the Family Caregivers Center of Mercy. She also had a fondness for celebrations and holidays, making Christmas a special time for family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Bret Gothe (Jeff Conrad); step-daughter, Sheryl Lynn Wallace; step-son, Dale Wallace (Debra); and a brother, Douglas Ernst.
Cherie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Wallace; her daughter, Lorilynne Pantini, two step-sons, Terry and Brent Wallace; as well as her parents.
