John, Bonnie, Robert, Emily (and family).. I am gutted for you all. I lack the words to be able to console you, but when I think about Colin and who he was as a man I find no shortage of them. Colin was hilarious, upon entering a room, it would light up instantly. Colin was one of the most loyal friends I've ever had, and ever will have. The love that you all gave him in his life was manifested every day in the way that he treated people.. he was a deeply empathetic person and truly cared. He needed nothing in return.
I am so grateful I had the privilege of knowing Colin and you all by extension. I am a better person because of it, and you are all in my thoughts. Be strong for each other.

My heart stopped as we heard the news of this sweet man who we met at fraternity house with my two sons Anthony & Thomas. We had the pleasure of spending time with Collin and Robert through the years at Hawkeyes events as well as when they visited with our sons in Illinois. He was a wonderful young man and we loved his zest for life! We saw him last Year October! He was always welcomed in our home and now he has left a hole in our heart! But great memories of his smile kindness and good manners! What can I say the world has lost a good soul but God has another angel in heaven now. When we got the news yesterday that Colin was gone, it took quite a while for the shock to pass and our breath to start again. It's too hard to comprehend. Our memories take us back to a little blonde boy with the endless freckles, a friend to our son, Brandon, and we enjoyed him so very much! Colin went to numerous varsity basketball games all over Iowa with us to watch Ben play and it was like he was one of our own. I still smile thinking about how Colin called our living Room on Fox Trail the Rainbow Room as we had that crazy brushstroke sofa and love seat. He was a perfectly amazing addition to our life and through our memories, Colin will continue to be a part of our life journey. We send our love, our prayers, and our strength to each of you.
