Linda J. Meineke, 76 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. Services at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. There will be a visitation at the chapel from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. Burial at the Center Green Cemetery in Morley, Iowa.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert (Shelly) of Marengo, IA; and R.J. (Joey Lynn) of Cedar Rapids, IA; four grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan (Emily), Ellie, and Thomas Meineke; four great-grandchildren, Brennen, Keely, Kyla, and Charlotte; a sister, Darlene (Pat) Schlarmann, and a brother-in-law, Duane Meineke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frederick “Fritz” Edwin Meineke; sister-in-law, Nancy (Meineke) McQuaid, and infant grandson, Richard Paul.

Linda was born on September 19, 1945, in Cheyenne, Wyoming the daughter of Arnold and Bethel (Slater) Kaune. She later grew up in Hazelton, Iowa and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1963.  Linda went on to graduate from the nursing technician class at Mercy Hospital.  She married Frederick “Fritz” Edwin Meineke on June 5, 1965, in Hazelton, Iowa.  Linda was employed at Mercy Hospital and later became a homemaker after her two sons were born.  She later returned to work for the Cedar Rapids Community School District as an aide on the school bus for children with special needs until her retirement.   
Linda loved to knit, clean, and was always up for a long phone conversation with anyone who called. She loved having company and was always willing to set another plate at the table for you.  Linda will be forever remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. 

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center for Linda’s care and the friends that she made.  A special mention and thank you to Linda’s dear friend Sharon Hines, she is the true definition of a friend.
