My prayers go out to Penny's family and friends. The transition from her being on earth and going to her new home will be difficult for you. It is a loss. She was such a down to earth person who was kind and made others feel comfortable. Mike, I was your 8th grade social studies teacher and stayed with you a couple of times when your parents were out of town. You are still one of my favorite students after all these years and have thought of you often. I am a high school counselor now. I will pray for your mom's transition to her new home.

My deepest condolences to the Bjornsen family. I have many happy childhood memories of being at the Bjornsen home when Kristi and I were friends in elementary and middle school together. Mrs. Bjornsen was always so gracious and kind and made me feel like I was one of 'her kids' when I was there. My heart and prayers go out to all of you.

Larry,
Marty and I are so sorry that Penny has passed away. Marty remembers attending your wedding and good times when you lived next door on 32nd Street. Penny was always so kind to Zona. Marty has many fond memories of the Bjornson family. I never really knew Penny but I’ve been to her parents’ home in Oskaloosa. Jane and Hav were dear friends of my grandmother, Gladys Snyder. We both send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Marty and Julianne Smith

I'm sad to see that Penny has passed. We knew each other from Pegs Cosmetology Studio & I always enjoyed her humor. We bought the Bjornson home on Staub Ct. & love living here. Penny had some fun stories to share with me about past Christmas's in this home. RIP Penny. Becky Burns

LB, my deepest sympathies to you and your family in the loss of Penny. She was such a fun person and aways seemed to plan such great times that we could all spend together. Golfing, going out to dinner, celebrating New Year's Eve and of course your 70th birthday party at Broken Sound are just a few of my memories. But most of all I remember the dinner party at Jerry's beloved Elmcrest that she organized to celebrate our up coming wedding. This is such a difficult time. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you God's peace and comfort.

I went all the way through both Johnson and Franklin with Penny and I distinctly remember her living at the corner of Grande Avenue and 21st Street in Cedar Rapids and that she was very pretty and nice. I also remember that one day of the week she and all the other BlueBirds (Campfire Girls) came to Johnson dressed in their uniforms which in my Kid Mind I thought was really neat.

I lost my friend this week. I knew that I would, but still did not want it to happen. She was the best. Solid, funny, faithful, etc. etc. I have so many great memories that will help me thru this difficult time. I loved & adored Penny. She always made me laugh. My world is a bit less colorful with her gone. I will miss Penny for the rest of my life. I was lucky to have her for 40 years. Good bye my friend. Loving you, Gail Miller
