Memorial
Robert A. Sebastian, 92, of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully with family and wonderful staff near him on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Willow Garden Care Center in Marion.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Memorial in Cedar Rapids, and the family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Robert was born baby of the family on January 6, 1924, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to Leonard and Violet Rau Sebastian. He served in the Army in 1943 and served in World War II before being honorable discharge in 1946.
On June 3, 1945 Bob married his Bride, Patricia in Alexandria, Louisiana. They were blessed with 4 children and made their home in Cedar Rapids where he worked as a salesman retiring from Sara Lee Foods after many years.
Bob enjoyed socializing, singing (don't you know?), gardening and telling stories but most of all he really had a passion for cooking and baking with his sweet wife.
He will always be loved by his children, Ed (Marilyn) Sebastian of Fairfax; Mike (Pam) Sebastian of Cumming, Georgia, grandchildren, Tammy, Tim, Lori and Rob, nine great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Ted Loyd.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2013, his parents, siblings Lorraine and Fay, and his children Nancy Sue and Timmy Jo.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids following the service, with a celebration of life luncheon back at Cedar Memorial Center immediately after.
Memorials may be directed to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation or the Blesie Tree Foundation through Cedar Memorial or the family.
