Dear Charters family, I remember Bill as a true gentleman. Kind, thoughtful and always willing to help others. That he had many good friends, children and grandchildren who loved and cared for him I'm sure made his life happy and content. My deepest smypathy to the family for your loss.

I have only pleasant memories of working with and for Bill, as his homemaker and friend. Often he would recall his days and pals at Cornell (our shared college, 30 years apart), places he worked, and about his house and past in Cedar Rapids, a city and its people whom he thoroughly enjoyed. He would lovingly and proudly share stories about his children and grandchildren, and was concerned for their health and well-being. It seems Bill saw the world thru the eyes of an artist, and found beauty in the love of family, books, and photos. Always gentle, appreciative, and kind, Bill brought a great philosophy to my own life - that I could "pick him up" if he fell, the thought of which brings a smile to my face... Thank YOU, Bill, for the stories and the laughter! You kept family, faith, and a generous spirit first and foremost in your heart.

Jim and I are so sorry we are unable to be with you all on Saturday. We have so many fun memories of your Dad, our friendship has been over 50 years. Bill will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sending our sympathy, prayers, big hugs and love. Jim and Nancy Snyder

I am keeping all the Charters in my heart and prayers. Please accept my sincere condolences.
