Estaline Marie Darland, age 95, of Cedar Rapids, IA, formerly of Hiawatha, IA, most recently at Prairie Hills Assisted Living of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Cedar Rapids. 

Estaline was born October 9, 1928, in Robertsdale, PA, the daughter of Harry and Veta (Ramsey) Parks. Growing up she was a coal miners daughter and graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1947. At 23 years old, Estaline moved to Cedar, IA with her twin sister, Maxine. One night they went roller skating in Ottumwa, IA and this is where she met her future husband, Estel Darland. Estel and Estaline moved to Cedar Rapids and on September 5, 1952, they were married. They bought their home in Hiawatha, IA, and Estaline did secretarial work at Collins Radio for two years. She and Estel raised their three children, Tami, Timothy and Thomas. Estaline was a active and faithful member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She taught 5th grade Sunday School, worked in the nursery and the Women’s Prayer Meetings. Estaline volunteered at St. Luke’s Flower Shop and spent her senior years doting on her grandchildren. 

Survivors include her three children, Tami Ann (Paul) Bagley of Ham Lake, MN, Timothy Eugene (Shirley) Darland of Marion, IA and Thomas Dean (Jonna Kay) Darland of Vinton, IA; grandchildren, Michelle (Christopher) Wiberg, Daniel (Andrea) Bagley, Jessica Darland, Zane (Ruth) Darland and Abigail (John) Beahm; great-grandchildren, William Wiberg, Adalynn and Jack Bagley, Eliyanah, Emmanuel, Zion, Khesed, Shekinah, Navi and Natanya Darland, Sawyer and Jayden Beahm and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Estel who passed 35 years ago; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Darland; her twin sister, Maxine Hoover; three brothers and three other sisters. 

Visitation for Estaline will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 4 – 6:00 pm at Oakland Church of Nazarene, 3000 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA and again on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 10 – 11:00 am at Oakland Church of Nazarene with a service following at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if desired, memorials may be directed to Youth Ministry, Oakland Church of Nazarene. The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie Hills Assisted Living for their compassion and care of Estaline.
