Mary Susan “Molly” Bredl, 91, passed away Saturday, September 19th, 2026, at her home. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, September 22nd at Father Loecke Commons at St. Matthews Church from 4 - 7 PM, with a vigil at 4 PM. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 23rd at St. Matthews Church at 11 AM with a luncheon to follow after the burial at St. Matthews Kearn Hall.

Molly was born on June 13th, 1935, in Waukon, Iowa to Harold and Mary (Regan) Schwartzhoff. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids. Molly married her high school sweetheart, John “Jack” Bredl, on November 28th, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. Molly started her sales associate career at Mercy Auxiliary “The Old House”. She then worked in women’s sportswear at Armstrong’s, and finished her career working for Lancome, Clinique, and Estee Lauder at Younkers.

Survivors include her eight children: LeAnn Bredl of Boston, MA; John (Mary) Bredl of Hudson, WI; Susan (Tom) Rugo of Cape Cod, MA; Becky (Mike) Ferguson of Waukesha, WI; Kristin (Marc) LaCroix of Scottsdale, AZ; Greg (Lori) Bredl, Sara (Dave) Mudd, and Jennifer Bredl, all of Cedar Rapids, IA. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Gary Ann Wilson and Kathy Gregor, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Schwartzhoff, her 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Gerald and Jim Schwartzhoff, and her husband Jack Bredl.

Molly was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful hostess, known for her hospitality, generosity, and warmth. Everyone was always welcome in the Bredl home, and no one ever left hungry. She will forever be remembered for her loving and genuine nature.
