Memorial

Jean Ann Albers, 76, of Marion, Iowa passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2026, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. 

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Jean was born on December 8, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Merle and Donald Durey. She graduated from George Washington High School and attended the University of Iowa. On July 10, 1970, Jean married the love of her life, Lonnie Albers. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage and raised two daughters.

Jean dedicated many years of service to the Cedar Rapids Community School District. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, Jean was an avid reader and writer, an antique treasure hunter, and a talented decorator who especially enjoyed decorating for every holiday. She also found great enjoyment in crafting and creating special things for those she loved.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lonnie; her two daughters, Kimberly Alt and Lisa (Michael) Drinkall; her five grandchildren, Morgan (Keagan), Danica, Emma, Max, and Reese; and two great-grandchildren, Tate and Maya; and her furry companion, Lexi.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Donald Durey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed toward the family.
