James Hubert Theiss, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday September 7, 2026, at Harmony House Care Center, in Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday September 14, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with full Military Honors.  

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Shirley, his sons, Bradley Irvin Theiss and Vincent James Theiss.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

James was born on November 29, 1929, in Mendota, Illinois, the son of Forrest and Mary (Phelan) Theiss.  He married Shirley Helene Meissner on February 11, 1956, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  James was in Sales with Rapids Chevrolet from 1964-1991. He was a member of the Congenial Dance Club, V. F. W, Moose Lodge and Elks Club. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge.
