Bernadine Hoyt, 95, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Corridor Crossing Place in Cedar Rapids.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A graveside service will immediately follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bernadine was born May 11, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John A. and Bernice (Hamilton) Rammelsberg. After graduating from Palo High School in 1949, she entered the workforce and later retired as a secretary from Tanager Place in 1995. In her free time, she volunteered at St. Luke’s and Mercy Hospital for more than 19 years. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, and traveling.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Martha Holmes; her brother, John Rammelsberg; and her sister-in-law, Billie Hoyt.
Left to cherish Bernadine’s memory are her children, Steve Hoyt of Marion; Bill (Patty) Hoyt of Huxley, Iowa; Jenny (Mike Fowler) Hoyt of Cedar Rapids; and Terry (Pam) Hoyt of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Hagan of Chandler, Arizona. They will miss her deeply and will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Corridor Crossing Place and Suncrest Hospice for the care and compassion given to Bernadine and her family throughout her time there. The kindness you showed will not be forgotten.
