John McGinness, Age 90, of Fairfax, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, IA. 

A Funeral and Burial will be held at a later date at the St. Michaels, Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland.

John was born on December 16, 1935, in Bothwell, Scotland to John and Grace McGinness. On December 24, 1965, John was united in marriage to May Molloy in London, England. They emigrated to the USA in 1969. John worked at Square D (later Schneider) and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

John is survived by his wife May, daughter, Tina, and her children, Sam, Kama, and Sylvie; his son Paul, and his children, Aiden, Cameron, and Jaxton; his ex-daughter-in-law, Jenny McGinness, all of Cedar Rapids, IA; brothers, James (Frances) McGinness, Patrick (Helen) McGinness, of Scotland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Art Molloy, Martha Molloy, Mick (Mary) Molloy, Sean (Chrissie) Molloy, Liam (Margaret) Molloy, Kevin Molloy, Dermot Molloy, Ann Mannion, of Ireland, and Teresa (Mike) O’Reiley, of the United Kingdom; two special nieces, Anne (Tom) Dixon and Lorraine (Tom) O’Sullivan, all of Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace McGinness, his in-laws, John and Nancy Molloy, brother, Hughie (Kathy) McGinness, sister, Mary Brophy, nephews, Steve Brophy and Timothy McGinness, brother-in-law, Pat Molloy, and sister-in-law, Eileen Teevan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Oldorf Hospice House and or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
